Clinical Nurse Specialist Ophthalmology
Job description
Kings Ophthalmology Service at the South Sites are looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist with a particular interest in Cornea. This is a fixed term post for 12 months covering maternity leave.
The role involves utilising your knowledge and skills to autonomously manage a cohort of patients as part of a multi professional team, undertake interventional procedures independently and demonstrate the Trust Values.
The service is open 7 days a week and may involve travel and clinic sessions at other Kings Ophthalmology Sites.
In collaboration with the care group and speciality team, the post holder is responsible for safe and effective care . They will assess, monitor, implement and coordinate patient management including participating with research, pathway redesign and service improvements projects.
Role
The post holder will play a key role in developing this clinical nurse specialist role and interventions to identify merging issues, reduce patient anxiety, improve efficiency, drive innovation and improve the quality of care through:
• Providing specialist autonomous nursing care for patients attending an Ophthalmic Speciality Service.
• Acting as an enhanced practitioner who can lead the specialist nursing function in the delivery of specialist care.
• A role in facilitating, enabling and supporting service improvement and the development of the CNS remit which is evidence based with best practice for patients so they receive high quality, effective and efficient care.
• Multi-disciplinary team working to implement a strategic development plan for the service with daily operational and managerial responsibilities.
• Acting as a resource for staff education and development.
• Reviewing and managing patient pathways to improve flow and efficiency in the clinic/wards/department to ensure the patient experience is positive while under our care.
The post holder must be an RN and is bound by the NMC Code of Professional Conduct for Nurse, Midwives and Health
