The Department of Pediatrics in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Clinical Research Fellowship .

Job Description:

Fellowships will have 70% dedicated research time with clinical training complimentary to the fellow¿s research goals and tailored to the interests of the fellow for no more than 30% FTE.

Required Academic Activities include:

Participation in OCEC's transdisciplinary training activities, including courses, workshops, and professional development opportunities. Fellows are also expected to participate in and present at the OCEC Scholar Research Symposium, along with other relevant Child Health and Wellness research symposia, retreats, and educational activities organized by OCEC.
Preparation of research proposal, application for suitable funding, application for research ethics, and initiation a research project as applicable.
Research knowledge translation and communication: academic manuscripts, academic presentation, and community presentations as applicable.
Completing reporting for projects, progress updates, and awards as needed.

Qualifications:

Qualifications include an MD or equivalent, certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Pediatric neurology, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Developmental Pediatrics, or equivalent certification from another professional association, and the completion of a related fellowship.

Candidates must be eligible for an Independent Practice Permit from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and for medical staff privileges from Alberta Health Services.

They must read, write, and speak English. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and Permanent Residents will be given priority.

Applicants will be asked to provide a letter of interest indicating the area or topic of research interest; CV with training, previous work experience, awards, and previous research productivity; and 2 letters of reference. One reference should focus on the applicant's skills and aptitude for a research career and the second reference should be a clinical reference for practice in their trained specialty.

Pediatric BNNP is intrinsically transdisciplinary, cutting across neurology, neurodevelopment, mental health, and the allied healthcare professions that support patients. Patients represent a population affected by both visible and invisible disabilities, and often have an intersection of EDI considerations. As such, the program is dedicated to principles of equality, diversity and inclusivity and in creating a safe and supportive environment for all team members and research participants.
