The role
The Clinical Research Nurse is an integral part of a multidisciplinary team comprising of Clinical Trial Assistants, Clinical Trial Coordinators, Research Nurses, and Ophthalmologists. In this position, you will be actively involved in conducting clinical trials that investigate innovative therapies for conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, uveitis, corneal disorders, and other retinal and vitreous diseases.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Collect biospecimens from research participants as per project protocol, prepare samples for storage/shipping, and ensure adherence to proper handling procedures
Conduct participant assessments, monitor safety and administer study treatments as per study protocol
Identify, recruit, and schedule participants for clinical research, ensuring that only appropriate participants are screened/registered according to eligibility criteria
Coordinate designated clinical research projects, ensuring compliance with Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and Sponsor requirements
Collaborate with Trial Coordinators, Researchers, and Principal Investigators to facilitate clinical trials, including performing administrative tasks related to the operational activities of these trials
Monitor and provide updates on trial budgets, including invoicing for payments as required
Accurate collection and entry of study data into both hard copy and electronic Case Report Forms.
Your skills and experience

Degree in nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and registration with AHPRA (mandatory)
Demonstrated proficient clinical skills with a capacity to learn new techniques and procedures
Experience in clinical trial research and a familiarity with research guidelines and regulations is desirable
Highly developed interpersonal skills, enabling effective communication with a diverse array of stakeholders, both verbally and in writing
Strong attention to detail and the ability to adhere to documentation guidelines accurately and consistently
Proven ability to build and maintain excellent rapport with a wide range of patients, particularly elderly patients, ensuring effective and compassionate communication and care
Adaptability and resilience in dynamic environments, with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and work under pressure to ensure efficient and effective service delivery while remaining flexible and focused
A solutions-oriented approach with a commitment to working collaboratively with others and fostering a supportive team environment.
