The Role
Developing, Communicating and Implementing a Cloud Architecture Roadmap and Strategy.
This role is part of Seequent’s Global Architecture Team and works closely with the Technical Leadership Team and cross-functional teams across Seequent’s portfolio to refine and communicate the cloud architecture strategy. The position collaborates with Product and Engineering teams to align implementations with architectural direction, recommend architectural patterns, and promote technical convergence. It also involves engaging with hyperscale cloud providers and technology vendors to identify best practices and strategic opportunities. The role contributes to maintaining clear documentation of the architecture roadmap and ensuring relevant teams are informed, while also proposing solutions to complex challenges using global best practices.

This role collaborates with engineering teams across Seequent to evaluate new and updated technology options for Seequent’s “paved path” technologies. It is responsible for identifying gaps in current technology selections and assessing emerging alternatives that may offer improved capabilities. The position also involves working with hyperscale cloud providers and technology vendors to trial and assess the suitability of new technologies. Additionally, the role contributes to refining the Architecture team’s technology selection strategy and ensures that new and updated selections are clearly documented and effectively communicated to relevant teams.
This role works closely with other members of Seequent’s Global Architecture Team to identify, refine, document, and promote the critical non-functional requirements that Seequent’s portfolio of products must meet. It is also responsible for proposing updates to these requirements in alignment with modern best practices, ensuring that Seequent’s architecture remains robust, scalable, and aligned with industry standards.
Intra-team Collaboration and Communication
Proposing and contributing to architectural possibilities with the other members of the Global Architecture Team.
Effectively communicate complex ideas and architectural concepts in team discussions, ensuring clarity and shared understanding across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Propose ideas on how we can evolve our products from where they are currently to possible future states.
Discuss trade offs for various architectural patterns and styles in different situations.
Inter-team Collaboration and Communication
Fluently discuss Seequent’s architectural strategy and vision with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across Seequent.
Provide insights into the rationale behind architectural decisions and foster alignment across teams.
Work with your assigned product teams on architectural and technical convergence.
Contribute to architectural and technical discussions with people at all levels at Bentley Systems (our parent company).
Working with teams in other parts of Bentley Systems and at customer and partner organisations on platform level integration of technologies with Seequent.
Contributing to Architecture Team documentation.
Represent Seequent in product / solution related discussions with key customers and partners.
Proposing architectural patterns and technical selections line with Global Architecture’s strategic vision.
Working with colleagues across Bentley on our architectural and technology choices, where, how and why they differ from Bentley’s.
Investigation and Evaluation
Evaluating team architectures and APIs for alignment with Seequent's vision.
Investigating Technology Selection options for suitability across Seequent.
Evaluating current ideas on modern cloud architectures, best practices and technologies and how they could apply at Seequent
To be successful in this role, you should have:
10+ years experience software development, building SaaS software in a Cloud, IaC environment.
5+ years as an architect (or equivalent) for one or more large scale SaaS providers or a cloud hyper-scaler.
Proven problem solving and lateral thinking abilities at the Platform or System Architecture Level.
Experience working to improve scalability, availability and performance in a cloud environment.
Experience developing, documenting and communication an architectural strategy for a significant, global, cloud-based SaaS solution.
Additional Information
Office-based working environment, work from our Toronto or Vancouver Office a minimum of two days per week.
