Cloud Engineer
Blackmagic Design, a name synonymous with groundbreaking creative video technology, is looking for experienced and skilful Golang engineers as we look to keep expanding and innovating our world class product line.
Our range of products which service the live and post production video industry, include some of the most advanced film and broadcast cameras, audio/video converters, colour and editing software, scanners and monitors to name a few.
All aspects of production and manufacturing are done in house, creating an environment of creativity and unique problem solving.
This role will see you joining a highly proficient engineering team working out of our Southbank offices as part of our expanding cloud engineering team.
The team is building a suite of cloud-based products from the ground up, focusing on quality and reliability. Collaborating directly with development and marketing departments, your team will be involved through the entire production cycle.
These products will be added to our existing cloud lineup which have launched over the last few years, including the Blackmagic Storage solutions, the recent Blackmagic camera app as well as cloud functionality within our DaVinci Resolve Editing software, changing the way our customers work around the world.
About You
You will need to be passionate about code, working in the cloud, and a willingness to tackle difficult problems head-on.
You will need to be a hands-on technical individual with demonstrated Golang programming and experience working collaboratively within a technical team.
Working within an AWS framework you will be able to deliver high level readable and maintainable code, help make key decisions and move our platform forward.
What you will need
A huge willingness to learn.
Minimum of 2 years hands on cloud engineering experience preferably in Golang, micro services, container orchestration and event-driven sourcing.
Similar experience with C++ or Java in the cloud also considered.
Knowledge of Cloud Architecture will help but not mandatory.
Familiarity with Cloud Architecture, video streaming, encoding or HLS protocol will help but not mandatory.
Develop high-quality code, unit tests, integration tests and automated API tests.
Experience working with AWS
What you will be doing
Work primarily with Golang and AWS cloud.
Solve complex technical problems through your own decision making and collaboratively with the team.
Deliver highly available, scalable, and performant software with quality.
Write infrastructure-as-code as required.
Support team with solutions design, architecture review, code reviews.
Your primary focus will be building new services and maintaining existing services written in Go as part of a multidisciplinary team.
We are currently building all new services in either a micro-service or server-less pattern on AWS.
You will be working alongside our collaborative team of over 80 engineers, where your knowledge and advice about app architecture and the latest development practices and tools will be highly appreciated.
