Job Description
This also includes but is not limited to:
• Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
• Programs mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches, calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; providing part programs
• Sets up mills by installing and adjusting three and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers, indicating vices, tramming heads
• Verifies settings by measuring positions, first run part, and sample workplaces, adhering to standards
• Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations, taking measurements; detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
• Troubleshoots and calls for repairs
• Assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts by operating mechanical equipment
• Assemble parts into sub-units or complete units
• Use blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product
Work Schedule: The work schedule is typically a fixed schedule: 7:00 a.m. – 3:45 p.m; or 3:00 p.m. - 11:45 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch. Incumbent should be flexible as some evening and weekend work may be required as determined by business need.
Essential Knowledge/Skills:
• HS Degree required
• Minimum of 3 years of related machining experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret simple to complex drawings.
• Basic computer skills are desired but not required.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple to complex work instructions in English is required.
• Ability to successfully communicate with a diverse personnel base is necessary.
Qualification Standards:
• Previous experience in operating Controls and Instrumentation, Supply Management, Tooling and Coordination, use of Precision Measuring Instruments is required The Production Manager may amend these requirements based upon company requirement(s).
