About the role
Bring your passion for coding to further develop our documentation portfolio. Liaise with clinical staff to ensure high quality documentation within the EMR and other sources. Be supported by other Coding Coordinators and the Associate Director - Classification and Coding. Participate in targeted education to clinical staff regarding documentation standards.
Flexible working arrangements and opportunity to work from home are available.
Responsibilities include:
Portfolio specific:
Assess the current documentation portfolio content and develop a work plan
Liaise with the electronic medical record (EMR) team and others to ensure documentation adheres to standards and is fit for multiple purposes
Develop and assist in education activities relating to documentation
General coding and classification:
Undertake coding in line with requirements to comply with all coding regulations and standards
Facilitate and support digital transformation including the use of the EMR to support coding
Participate in quality assurance activities including auditing
Assist in optimising the efficacy of the Code Focus system
About you
Essential:
Tertiary qualification in Health Information Management or equivalent
Experience in Coding and Casemix data collection and analysis
Possess a strong understanding of digital workflows in a healthcare setting
Experience utilising an EMR to abstract data
Demonstrated working knowledge of coding and casemix software and relevant resources e.g. AR-DRG manuals
Desirable:
Experience in coding auditing
Previous experience in a documentation improvement role
Experience in a tertiary hospital setting

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
