Collections Officer

We are currently looking for an experienced Collections Officer to join our Collections team based at Albert Street, CBD Auckland on a 12 month fixed term contract.
Primary Role:
You will be responsible for collections activity on the Motor Vehicle Dealer ledger and will contribute to other team tasks as required. This is a telephone-based role.
Accountabilities:
Financial:
- Decrease the annual $value of provisions and write-off's through effective management of all loan arrears.
- Decrease the size of UDC arrears portfolio through effective collections management and rehabilitation of customers.
Customer:
- Appropriate and effective manner when dealing with customers (including internal customers)
- Contribution to managing team inbound phone queues and outbound campaigns.
Process:
- Appropriate and timely action taken on each account in default, including adequate levels of inbound/outbound calls and timely completion of admin duties.
- Maintain individual productivity levels, and quality standards.
People:
- Contribute in a collaborative and positive manner with colleagues to enable team objectives to be met.
Risk/Compliance/Behaviour:
- Ensure all activities comply with UDC strategy, policies, processes, and standards and with external regulatory requirements.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:
- Previous collections or call centre experience is essential
- Experience working with customers/clients who have difficulty in meeting payments and knowledge of CCCFA Hardship process are very desirable.
- Sound knowledge of Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act 2003 (CCCFA), Privacy Act, Fair Trading Act, and other relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and negotiation skills.
- Is reliable, punctual, and capable of working in a high volume and fast paced environment while delivering high levels of personal productivity.
- Ability to contribute to a close knit, hardworking team (total team of 15).
- Confident telephone manner.
