Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Project Estimator to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in leading our estimation efforts, ensuring that Iris continues to submit competitive and accurate bids for a wide range of construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the construction industry, exceptional analytical skills, and a proven track record in cost estimation and project planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all expenses and contingencies.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to understand project requirements and develop accurate budget forecasts.
Implement innovative estimating techniques and software to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and labor rates.
Mentor and develop junior estimators, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to gather and analyze bids, ensuring all proposals meet project specifications and standards.
Present and review cost estimates with senior management and clients, providing clear and concise explanations for methodologies used.
Participate in bid reviews and negotiations, offering strategic insights to improve Iris's competitive position in the market.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction estimating, with a focus on commercial design and build projects.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., OnScreen Takeoff, Bluebeam) and MS Excel
Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Excellent leadership and communication abilities, capable of mentoring a team and working collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Winnipeg, MB.
Valid driver's license and willingness to engage in minor travel as required.
