About us

Genesis Energy is one of New Zealand's leading electricity generators and energy retailer, supplying electricity, natural gas and LPG to more than half a million customers across the country and providing almost 20% of New Zealand's electricity.

We are accelerating New Zealand's transition to a low-carbon future through our Gen35 Strategy, undertaking a $1.1 billion investment programme in new renewable generation, to make Genesis 95% renewable by 2035 with around 8,300 GWh. In addition, we have set a target of reaching net zero as a company by 2040. To help deliver on this ambitious mission, we are on the lookout for the right talent to help us deliver.

About the role

Genesis is on an exciting journey to decarbonise our portfolio and lead the delivery of innovative energy solutions across the country. As a Commercial Development Manager - Wind, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering strategic development initiatives with a focus on onshore wind projects.

As part of the Generation Development function, you'll be at the forefront of large-scale development programmes, coordinating cross-functional teams, negotiating commercial outcomes, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards. You'll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to translate our strategic goals into commercially sound, technically viable projects that make a real difference.

This is a rare chance to lead meaningful work at scale and help shape the energy future of Aotearoa.

Please note that this is a permanent, full-time opportunity and can be based in our Hamilton or Auckland office.

About you

With a strategic mindset and commercial sharpness, you have a proven history of delivering complex development initiatives. You thrive in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder settings, balancing negotiation skills with technical oversight.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

Proven experience in energy, infrastructure, or large-scale development projects
Strong knowledge of construction, power generation and the NZ electricity market
A track record of managing multiple workstreams and delivering complex projects on time and budget
Solid commercial judgement with experience negotiating agreements with external vendors
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Health insurance, trauma and life insurance for you, and best doctors online service for you and your family.
Electricity and gas discounts and an extra 20 power shout hours per year if you choose us as your provider.
Matching up to 4% on contributions to your KiwiSaver or if you are unable to take advantage of KiwiSaver, then Genesis will pay a KiwiSaver Cash allowance of 3% instead.
A flexible working policy to support you to balance personal and professional needs.
Career development opportunities and a supportive learning culture.
