The Commercial Transactions Division within Investment and Technology Group is responsible for the development and negotiation of commercial contracts and services within the Department of Transport and Planning to drive high performance and improve commercial outcomes for the State. The team identifies and assesses strategic options that can help support and improve service delivery and designs and implements contracting models, provides commercial and revenue generation advice, project deal strategy, business case development for commercial initiatives and manages delivery and transition support for transport services contracts.

About the Role

The role is Ongoing Fulltime.

Reporting to the Director, Commercial Revenue, your role as Commercial Project Officer is to support the development and delivery of commercialisation of DTP assets, through efficient and effective administrative, business and project support. This would include in relation to managing due diligence, records, stakeholders, procurement, reporting, contract management and financial reporting. In addition, The successful candidate will have proven experience in working with government data sets, insights and geospatial mapping tools. They will also have a good understanding of Government process and systems including procurement and social procurement requirements.

Position Outcomes /Accountabilities

Project Support - Provide effective specialist administrative and project secretariat support in a timely, planned and organised manner to specific project teams.
Document management - Effectively manage records (including sensitive and confidential material) to meet corporate document control guidelines and assist in effective project management .
Stakeholder Management - Stakeholders perceive that analysis and advice is comprehensively considered, considers whole of project outcomes, and supports successful outcomes through a supportive partnership.
Written communication - Prepare high-quality reports, presentations and other project documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, one must effectively deliver projects by defining clear tasks, coordinating teams, and monitoring progress to ensure outcomes are achieved. This involves guiding others, taking corrective actions when necessary, and maintaining a focus on delivering results. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential, with the ability to resolve issues using established guidelines and processes, while seeking guidance when needed and continuously improving these skills.

Additionally, success requires a solid understanding of business and commercial acumen, managing operational costs efficiently, and ensuring external vendors meet their contractual obligations. Influence and persuasion are key, requiring logical, fact-based arguments to advocate for solutions. Systems thinking is also crucial, as the ability to recognize how one's work fits into the broader organizational system and applying this understanding to solve complex problems will contribute to achieving success in the role.

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory

Demonstrated project support/ administration experience relevant to complex commercial projects in a government setting ​ 
Minimum 2 years' experience working with State or Federal Government
Desirable

A relevant tertiary degree in project or business management or related discipline would be well regarded.
