About the Commercial Property team
Our commercial property practice area has a strong reputation both locally and further afield and collaborates with a wide network of other professionals around the northern home counties. The Legal 500 recognises Rachael Spalton, Partner and Head of Commercial Property, as having “deep knowledge and excellent understanding of commercial matters, including leases, planning and development.”
About the role
The purpose of the role is to take on an existing caseload and work alongside Rachael Spalton with the aim for the successful applicant to join as soon as possible. We are looking for somebody with 3-5 years PQE level and there are real career prospects for the right person. The successful applicant will be supported by the commercial property partners and the team secretaries and will report to the Head of the Commercial Property.
The successful candidate will handle their own broad range of commercial property transactions for both developer and investor clients and landlord and tenant related matters. The firm has an interesting mix of commercial and landowning clients. The types of work we typically deal with are sales, purchases and related funding, non-contentious landlord and tenant transactions, option and promotion agreements and other typical commercial property matters.
Skills, experience and qualifications
• A qualified and practising Solicitor or Legal Executive with at least 3 years PQE in commercial property
• A sound knowledge and practical experience of commercial property work is essential
• Experience of running your own matters and being the lead client contact
• Familiar with reviewing documents to a high standard and with attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal skills, in particular an ability to develop a relationship of trust with clients and colleagues alike
• Ability to demonstrate empathy and understanding of clients’ needs
• Commercially minded both in the interests of your clients and of the firm
• Comfortable managing your own workload and meeting deadlines
• Experience of and an interest in business development is useful
• Well-developed IT skills
• Strong academic record
