We are looking for an ambassador for Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour as Part-Time Pastry Commis Chef. The ambassador should an eye for detail, a passion for creating magnifique luxury experience for our guests and developing a wonderful team.

Purpose
To craft exquisite desserts and pastries, transforming the finest ingredients into edible masterpieces. Guided by expert pastry chefs, you refine your skills, mastering precision and creativity. Your dedication to perfection ensures each creation is a symphony of flavour, texture, and elegance, delivering an unforgettable luxury experience.
Our Ambassador will:
Support Senior Pastry Chefs: Assist the Pastry Chef de Partie and Executive Pastry Chef in daily pastry and dessert preparation, ensuring smooth kitchen operations and high productivity.
Maintain Luxury Standards: Prepare and present pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to Sofitel’s five-star standards, recipes, and presentation guidelines.
Pastry Production: Prepare, bake, and finish items such as breads, cakes, tarts, and plated desserts with precision and attention to detail.
Quality & Consistency: Ensure all pastry items meet taste, texture, and presentation expectations while maintaining consistency across all outlets.
Hygiene & Food Safety: Follow strict HACCP and hotel hygiene procedures; maintain cleanliness and organisation of the pastry section at all times.
Stock & Cost Control: Assist in checking ingredient quality, monitoring stock levels, minimizing waste, and reporting needs to the Pastry Chef.
Learning & Development: Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and a willingness to learn advanced pastry techniques while upholding Sofitel’s brand values of excellence and elegance.
Qualifications
The Person:
Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role, preferably including 5 star experience.
Completed National Certificate in Hospitality Level 4 in Professional Cookery.
Has the aptitude and willingness to undertake further development with Sofitel.
Physically fit and able to stand for the duration of a shift (8 hours).
Organise time and work efficiently.
Willingness to work weekends and public holidays due to the business needs
Projects professional image at all times through personal presentation / interpersonal skills. Effective numeracy, verbal and written communication skills.
Desire and ability to train and develop staff.
Appreciates and maintains an effective outlet for stress.
Initiates contacts and establishes rapport easily.
