Stamford Plaza Melbourne is a five-star luxury hotel located at the 'Paris end' of Little Collins Street in the heart of the shopping & theatre district and we are now seeking a passionate hands-on Commis Chef.
Permanent full time
Rotating shifts (including breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekends)
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Preparing food items by following standardized recipes to deliver consistent quality dishes
• Ensuring ‘mise en place’ is ready prior to service delivery
• Actively participating in training sessions when new menu items are introduced
• Complying with control procedures for food production, portion control and stock management
• Rotating through each kitchen of the hotel in order to develop a broad range of skills and work with a variety of talented chefs
• Ensuring kitchen work area is hygienic, clean & well presented
The ideal candidate will be:
• Proactive, energetic and shares a passion for the hospitality industry
• Qualified in commercial cookery
• Demonstrated experience working in a 4 or 5 star hotel (desirable)
• Previous experience with a la carte service
• Previous experience in a busy commercial kitchen
• Flexible to work on a rotating roster which includes weekends and public holidays
• Effective communication skills
• Can work in a high pressure, fast paced environment
