Duties
• Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking, including washing, chopping, and measuring.
• Support chefs in cooking and plating dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
• Help with inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages to senior kitchen staff.
• Participate in daily kitchen operations, including setting up workstations and cleaning up after service.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow during busy periods.
• Follow instructions from senior chefs and be open to learning new culinary techniques.
Experience
• Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is preferred but not essential; a passion for food and hospitality is key.
• Basic knowledge of food safety practices and procedures is advantageous.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when required.
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn from experienced chefs.
• Familiarity with various cooking methods and ingredients will be beneficial.
