Position Overview
The Commissioned Security Officer will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients. This position requires a proactive approach to security, strong observational skills, and the ability to respond effectively to various situations. The ideal candidate will possess a valid security commission and have a strong understanding of security protocols and emergency response procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Patrol Duties: Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas to deter and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
Access Control: Monitor and control access points, ensuring that only authorized personnel enter the premises.
Incident Response: Respond promptly to alarms and emergencies, assess the situation, and take appropriate action, including contacting law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.
Report Writing: Prepare detailed reports of daily activities, incidents, and observations, documenting any irregularities or security breaches.
Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by assisting clients, employees, and visitors with inquiries and addressing their concerns in a professional manner.
Surveillance Monitoring: Monitor CCTV and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported and addressed promptly.
Training and Compliance: Stay informed about current security practices, laws, and regulations; participate in ongoing training and development programs.
Collaboration: Work closely with other security personnel, law enforcement, and emergency responders to ensure a coordinated approach to security management.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or related field is a plus.
Experience: Previous security experience preferred; experience in law enforcement or military service is advantageous.
Licensing: Valid commissioned security officer license as required by state regulations.
Skills: Strong observational and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with security systems, surveillance equipment, and basic computer skills for report writing.
Work Environment
The Commissioned Security Officer will work in various environments, including corporate offices, retail establishments, and special events. Flexibility in scheduling is required, as shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
