Summary:

As a Commissioning Summer Student, you will observe and assist with tasks such as testing, inspecting, and commissioning high voltage power system equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, instrument transformers, protective relays and SCADA systems. You will also assist with troubleshooting and help your supervisor resolve any issues or deficiencies that arise during the commissioning process, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards. You will be responsible for assisting and aiding with documentation, reports, and all supportive roles they may ask of you.

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering diploma/degree program with minimum one year of schooling in electrical, electronics, or a related field.
Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and power analyzers.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic drawings.
A can-do attitude and willingness to learn
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Prior internship experience or relevant extracurricular activities is considered an asset.
Responsibilities:

Participate in pre-work tailboard meetings and field level hazard assessments..
Participate in inspections and testing under direct supervision to verify that equipment and systems are properly installed and meet design specifications.
Participate in functional tests and measurements on equipment to verify their performance and functionality.
Assist with identifying and troubleshooting any issues or deficiencies that arise during the commissioning process.
Assist with documentation and reports for the results of commissioning activities.
Follow and abide by all safety rules and regulations, such as Permit To Work (PTW), Lock out - Tag Out (LOTO), Guarantee Of Isolation (GOI) and electrical lockout procedures.

This position is a mix of office and field work. A portion of this position will require time in the field in remote environments..
CSA-Approved safety boots (Green triangle designation) are necessary for this role.
