Communications and Engagement officer
Part-time, home based and able to attend locations around the Quantock Hills for meetings and events, flexible working 8-16 hours a week
The Charity, which is run by a team of voluntary Trustees, owns 400 acres of common land on the Quantocks and also carries out a number of other Quantock-wide, conservation-led projects in close association with the Quantocks Hills National Landscape team.
Job description
· Promotion of the charity’s work and objectives to members and the public, raising our profile in the area and increasing membership.
· Managing and creating communications and content on our website and social media and direct to our membership via emails, newsletters and other printed materials.
· Organising, marketing and management of events and our volunteers.
· Maintain and develop good working relationships with local bodies with shared interests in the National Landscape and the villages in and close to it.
· Work with the trustees as they seek to have a greater positive impact on the conservation of the Quantocks and the wildlife that lives and depends on it.
Key qualities
· Pro-active, flexible, versatile and organised with a can-do attitude.
· Good interpersonal skills and be self-motivated.
· Good IT, social media management, design and copywriting skills.
· A general knowledge of the Quantock Hills and area.
· An interest in Nature and its Conservation.
· Vehicle and current driving licence.
Hours are flexible and determined by the needs and tasks as they arise, including a quarterly committee meeting usually held in the evening. The number of hours is assumed to be between 8 and 16 per week but can flex with workload.
It is anticipated that the successful individual will be self-employed.
Initially the post will be offered for a three-month probationary period.
Remuneration is not fixed but would be expected to be in the range £16.16-£18.67 per hour, full-time equivalent £26,000 to £30,000.
