Your new career
Council’s Communications and Community Engagement Team leads the development and implementation of best practice communications and community engagement process, policies, and strategies.
As the Community Engagement Facilitator, you will assist with developing strategic and meaningful community engagement plans and will be able to influence great outcomes for both Council and community. You will provide advice and guidance across Council teams, devising strategies to enhance reach and connection with the community.
What you will bring to the role
You are an experienced community engagement professional who ideally has experience working in community development, facilitation, and community engagement. You are adept at managing a multi-project portfolio and juggling multiple stakeholders and deadlines. You are an advocate for quality and meaningful community engagement and have well developed knowledge of the strategies and actions which ensure community voices are central to organisational decision making.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Exceptional inter-personal skills, including the ability to establish rapport with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Engagement planning and delivery skills, including facilitation experience.
Experience working under pressure to meet deadlines.
Key Selection Criteria
Mandatory Qualifications, Experience and Requirements
Relevant professional/tertiary qualifications (e.g. social science, community development) and/or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic engagement strategies in a community or government organisation.
Experience in online engagement platforms.
Strong skill in survey design and writing.
This role will require occasional work outside regular office hours and the ability to facilitate community-based engagement sessions.
Qualification Check
A current Working With Children Check
The permanent right to live and work in Australia
Police Check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council).
A complete international criminal history check is required if the person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time OR a complete national criminal history check is required if the person has only ever worked in Australia.
