The Opportunity
The Community Event Project Officer will play a pivotal role in enhancing the cultural and social fabric of our community by cultivating strong partnerships and delivering exceptional events. Your expertise in event management will ensure the seamless planning, execution, and review of community events, maintaining high standards in logistics, safety, and compliance with Council policies.
We seek a highly motivated professional with a proven track record in managing both small and large-scale events (including outdoor festivals), adept at budget and project management, and skilled in engaging with diverse community needs. In this role, you will also contribute to the development of strategic community event policies and guidelines that will shape and build community capacity, empowering local groups to deliver their own safe and successful events.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Arts and Events team to design, organise, and oversee all aspects of event execution, including logistics, operations, and evaluations.
Assist in the development and delivery of Council's major event program, ensuring high-impact and memorable experiences.
Support the development and manage event budgets and timelines, ensuring efficient logistical coordination for both community-led events and Council's major event program.
Identify and address community needs to effectively tailor event development and management. Contribute to the creation and implementation of strategic community event policies and guidelines that enhance community capacity and empower local groups to deliver their own safe and successful events.
Implement and uphold Occupational Health and Safety and risk management strategies to ensure all events, including major Council-led events, are safe and compliant with relevant regulations.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
Tertiary qualification in Event Management, Public Administration, or related discipline, with some relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications with substantial relevant in event management.
Proven expertise in planning and executing successful events, including coordination, logistics, marketing, and budget management.
Ability to engage with diverse community groups and tailor events to their needs.
In-depth understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements for public events and festivals, with strong skills in issue resolution, risk management, and emergency response.
First Aid Qualification.
Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
