The Role

The City is seeking an experienced, motivated and innovative person to join the City's Community Development team as a Community Projects and Funding Officer on a fixed term contract until 28 February 2026. The successful candidate will have expertise in coordinating community funding, developing and delivering community development initiatives, building community capacity, establishing strong relationships and managing projects.

The role is responsible for:

Strategically delivering, managing and evaluating the City's Community Funding Program
Developing, implementing and evaluating community development initiatives and projects
Building community capacity and encouraging the growth of self-sufficient communities
Developing relationships with community groups, community leaders, local service providers and other key stakeholders.
Utilising and improving the City's online Grants Management System
Preparing reports tailored to the needs of the stakeholders
Delivering excellent customer service to the community
Skills and Experience

You will be a collaborative community development professional, with skills and experience in community funding, capacity building, relationship building and project management. You will have a good understanding of digital platforms and the ability to provide technical assistance and education to others. You must be adaptable, ready to take on a challenge and thrive working in a busy and change-driven organisation.

Qualification in relevant discipline such as community development, or equivalent.
Relevant experience in a community funding role managing community grants and utilising a grant management system.
Experience in developing and implementing community development initiatives and building community capacity.
Well-developed customer service, communication, problem-solving and project management skills.
Experience in establishing partnerships with community groups and service providers to develop responses to community issues and opportunities.
Intermediate organisational skills with the ability to priortise competing tasks and schedule work.
Intermediate research and analysis skills.
Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a busy environment.
Successful applicants may be required to work occasional weekends and evenings which forms part of the ordinary hours of work for this position (additional rates apply).
