From $109,863 base salary plus 12% super

About the opportunity
The Compliance Officer (Assets) reports to the Infrastructure Compliance Manager and works collaboratively across the team to undertake inspections of energy infrastructure, conduct inquiries into energy safety incidents and conduct enforcement actions where required.
The role is responsible for delivering field inspection programs by inspecting regulated energy assets and work practices; implementing inspection and audit programs to test compliance; reviewing and reporting on safety incidents; identifying and assessing relevant breaches energy safety legislation, schemes, cases, management plans, standards, and work procedures, and promoting safety initiatives used to inform regulated entities.
The role requires the capacity to understand the methods and work practices used by the regulated entities to meet their regulatory obligations. This will be achieved through implementing strategies, inspection practices and assessments that confirm regulated entities are achieving appropriate safety outcomes.
Key accountabilities
Perform end to end inspections and audits. This includes completing inspections of electricity infrastructure, reviewing energy safety incidents, analysing results and findings, generating reports, recording results into Energy Safe databases and monitoring progress of corrective actions to mitigate potential risks.
Exercise appropriate powers to issue noncompliance and observations to prevent or stop unsafe situations to enforce prescribed technical and safety requirements.
Prepare compliance and audit reports related to inspections and audits and ensure close out and rectification of findings.
Present evidence and information to support enforcement action where relevant. This includes assisting with investigations and attending court as an informant where required.
Support and deliver safety programs to verify the capacity of regulated entities to comply with legislation.
Advise regulated entities on safety matters in the practical application of legislation, regulations, codes of practice, standards, management plans and compliance programs.
Develop and manage effective relationships with government agencies, peak bodies, industry stakeholders and other regulators.
Represent Energy Safe at forums, such as trade events or conferences to promote Energy Safe programs and initiatives.
Participate in the development, implementation of strategies, risk management practices and controls to systems, processes, and effective data management.
Contribute to the development and improvement of legislation, regulations, standards, codes, and practices.
Participate in the Energy Safe availability roster and carry out availability duties as required.
Other duties as required.
Certificate 2 in ESI – Asset Inspection (UET20612)
Key Selection Criteria
Significant inspection and auditing experience in the electricity distribution industry.
Sound knowledge of relevant Acts, Regulations and Codes of Practice with ability to interpret and apply where applicable.
Experience with or exposure to, quality assurance and risk management frameworks.
High level communication, advocacy and dispute resolution skills that fosters effective relationships.
Ability to prepare reports and present to a diverse range of stakeholders or act as subject matter expert.
Ability to analyse and problem-solve issues.
High level interpersonal skills, including ability to influence and keep internal and external stakeholders informed on safety matters.
Excellent organisational and planning skills.
Computer literacy including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
