Responsibilities

The Compliance Paralegal will support the Chief Compliance Officer/Corporate Counsel and the compliance department with various legal and compliance tasks

This role involves handling operational legal questions related to loan closing documents (e.g., entity documents, POAs, and Trusts), assisting with vendor and non-disclosure agreements, and providing regulatory compliance guidance

Serve as point of contact for internal and external clients on contractual matters

Perform moderately complex legal compliance research, apply results to facts, and develop and communicate legal conclusions, including interpretation of federal and state mortgage lending laws and regulations

Review legal entity documents to assist loan operations in compliant loan closings, including Power of Attorney and Trust documents

Resolve complex issues or projects where professional expertise is required to apply law, regulation, policies and guidelines

Answer escalated compliance questions related to legal interpretation and provide guidance and training to other associates

Assist in the preparation of reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies, as appropriate

Maintain strong understanding of consumer compliance mortgage lending (federal and state) compliance laws

Contribute to a positive culture based on continuous learning, professional growth and development

Assist the Chief Compliance Officer/Corporate Counsel with other tasks as directed
