About the opportunity 

As a Compliance Services Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the provision of local laws, covering a spectrum of Animal, Local Laws, and Planning matters. Dive into a challenging yet rewarding environment and play a pivotal role in maintaining community standards and safety within our vibrant municipality. 

You will be kept busy and challenged through handling of complex customer interaction via field operations, front counter and telephone enquiries and provide enforcement services with respect of parking and traffic, local laws, litter, building sites, planning matters and animal management.   

You will need to be available for a rostered “On-call” rotation and programmed after-hours events.  

You will make an impact by 

Enforcing local laws, parking, traffic regulations, and animal management with professionalism. 
Engaging with the community through educational programs to promote understanding of legislation. 
Proactively ensuring public safety by taking a forward-thinking approach to enforcement. 
Handling sensitive information with discretion in adherence to privacy principles. 
Contributing to the integrity of land use and development in compliance with planning legislation 
What you will bring 

Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant legislation (ie  Local Laws, Domestic Animals Act, Planning and Environment Act, Environment Protection Act, Local Government Act, Road Rules etc) and ability to interpret and enforce the above legislation. 
Highly developed customer service and conflict resolution skills.  
Ability to deal humanely with domestic animals and livestock to ensure public safety  
Appreciation of Health & Safety guidelines in terms of risk minimisation strategies.  
Well-developed computer skills.  
Knowledge of the Statutory Planning process and associated legislation, policies, and planning scheme.  
Current Victorian driver’s licence
