One YMCA are poised and ready to enter a period of rapid expansion and growth, with aspirations to both diversify and strengthen our housing provision. As part of these exciting plans, we have newly established Place & environment team who will focus on providing a full range of maintenance and repairs works that includes delivering our unique programme of major stock refurbishment.

The compliance technician role will provide extensive support to the compliance team and carry out tasks as delegated, relating to buildings, health & safety and property compliance. This will include items such as the testing of systems relating to fire regulations & the monitoring of our legionella management etc. Additionally, the compliance technician will support in the monitoring of external contractors, provide an emergency response to site issues such as leaks, power outages, fire alarm issues and will also be expected to carry out minor DIY type tasks. They will also be required to demonstrate and train our housing colleagues on the use of our various fire alarm systems. Additional support to our repairs team may be required during periods of high demand, so a fully flexible approach alongside a general knowledge in buildings maintenance would also be required.
The post-holder will form an essential part of one YCMA’s customer focused service delivery and, as such, will always maintain the highest standards in terms of workmanship. Putting our customers first, you will ensure work is completed safely, quickly and in line with one YMCA’s internal standards. You will demonstrate high quality workmanship and will have a ‘saying what I do and doing what I say’ attitude. The post holder will also work closely with other members of the Place & Environment team, but be equally confident when working on their own.
Responsibilities
• Completion of routine inspections and tests for daily, monthly and annual health and safety compliance tasks, to support with OYMCA’s overall adherence to all aspects of current and future legislation and policy.
• Provide early detection of site issues relating to H&S and general location condition.
• Reporting of defects and issues, relating to all aspects of site use, by use of the internal REBIM software and to carry out emergency/remedial actions as instructed by the relevant line manager.
• Support our repairs and maintenance team during high levels of demand to ensure service delivery to all areas of the business.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely, in accordance with our code of conduct with respect to our residents, staff and visitors whenever working in or outside of the property.
• Offer an excellent level of customer service - be respectful, positive, polite, on time and listen to the needs of customers, residents, and staff.
• Complete paperwork after each job promptly and accurately detailing materials used, works carried out and any other repairs required for completion.
• Work as a team with all the Place and Environment Team, including liaising with property coordinators, managers, and on-site teams.
Requirements
• Demonstrable experience of monitoring compliance and being able to carry out a full range of general maintenance.
• The ability to use, repair and maintain machines and tools.
• To be thorough and pay attention to detail.
• Good customer service skills.
• The ability to use own initiative.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Knowledge of building maintenance and associated risks and compliance issues.
