Responsibilities
Program: Quality, Compliance & Privacy
Reports to: Compliance and Privacy Manager
At the direction of the Compliance and Privacy Manager, the Compliance Technician is responsible for supporting Tribal compliance with mandated audits, surveys, and to help investigate and resolve compliance-related grievances and incident reports
In addition, the Compliance Technician shall help ensure that staff are familiar with the compliance and grievance processes
Assists Compliance and Privacy Manager with gathering, preparing, and reviewing internal and external audit materials
Assists with auditing internal billing, documentation, and/or organizational processes and provides findings and feedback to involved departments and relevant leadership as needed
Utilizes responses from surveys, complaints, and suggestions to provide a data-focused framework for implementing change in alignment with Kenaitze Indian Tribe's Mission, Vision, and Values
Reports and educates clinics/programs regarding changes in standards and/or performance below standards
Communicates obstacles to the Compliance & Privacy Manager in a timely manner
Seeks out additional learning opportunities to continue to develop technical and professional skills
Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance
The incumbent may be called upon and required to follow or perform other duties and tasks requested by his/her supervisor, consistent with the purpose of the position, department and/or the Kenaitze Indian Tribe's objectives

Job Summary

At the direction of the Compliance and Privacy Manager, the Compliance Technician is responsible for supporting Tribal compliance with mandated audits, surveys, and to help investigate and resolve compliance-related grievances and incident reports. In addition, the Compliance Technician shall help ensure that staff are familiar with the compliance and grievance processes.

Essential Functions

Qualifications

Education
• Associate's Degree in a Healthcare or Business related field, or a combination of education and experience may be substituted for a degree

Experience
• One (1) year experience in healthcare, revenue cycle, compliance, operations, law, quality assurance, or data management

Preferred
• Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities
• Knowledge of coding and billing practices in healthcare
• Knowledge of auditing practices in a healthcare field
• Knowledge of Medicaid and National healthcare compliance regulations and practices
• Knowledge of healthcare compliance and quality assurance practices and principles
• Working knowledge of complaints and grievance processes

License/Certification
• Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy or obtain within 90 days of hire
