Job description, work day and responsibilities
The Computer Technician will report to the Coordinator of Technical Services. This position provides effective and efficient technical installation, repair and maintenance to a wide variety of LKDSB computer equipment (software and hardware), computer peripherals, networking infrastructure, and audio-visual equipment. The position supports all schools and board offices.
Qualifications/Experience:
three-year Community College - Information Technology diploma is a minimum;
MCSE/MCITP, CompTIA A+ certification, Net+ certification are an asset;
one year of experience in the field of Information Technology is preferred.
Other Key Skills & Knowledge:
excellent technical knowledge and ability, analytical and problem-solving skills;
configure and repair computer equipment and peripherals;
installation of software;
technical support to end users;
use diagnostic and utility software to monitor, investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical problems;
support and maintenance of all: Smart Boards, projectors, video conferencing systems, audio/video control systems in meeting rooms, and digital announcement systems and attached displays;
requires to carry and work on ladder up to 8 feet, lift and carry and install equipment up to 42 lbs;
Help Desk coverage as required;
assist with inventory management;
excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
reliable vehicle and willingness to travel to all LKDSB sites;
all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Position Effective Date & Length:
Permanent, CUPE 12 month, 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
This position will be located in the Chatham-Kent area.
Level 5 - $30.64/hour - $32.3+/hour
