Qualifications
Ability to read and understand drawings and prints
At least two years’ formwork/concrete construction experience as a Carpenter
Ability to follow applicable safety precautions
Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations is also required
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
Willingness to share knowledge / mentor junior crew members
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
Must be able to work 8 to 12-hour workdays, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends
Must be over the age of 18
Union affiliation or willingness to join the union is required
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Ability to perform manual work requiring periods of extensive physical exertion and potential exposure to adverse weather conditions
Ability to climb, kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, squat and tolerate heights without fear due to nature of job typically outside with often uneven and/or muddy ground; Must have the ability to exert heavy physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 75 lbs

Responsibilities

Build and/or assemble wood or metal forms for the construction of concrete floors, slabs, walls, columns, tilt-walls, elevated concrete slabs, elevator cores, decks, boardwalks, etc
Set and place forms to proper elevations and locations and may aid in installing reinforcing steel
Set and erect forms using a wide variety of materials and forming systems
Verify accuracy of structures using a plumb bob, carpenters’ level, laser and/or digital transit
Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level
Responsible for observing and complying with all safety policies and guidelines
Assist with placement of concrete as needed
Perform other duties as assigned

Must be flexible regarding work hours including evenings and weekends

A Day in the Life at Veit
