Job Title: Conflicts Lateral Liaison
Location: Chicago, IL
Salary Pay Range and Other Compensation: The salary range for this position is expected to be between $78,000.00 – $128,000.00 per year, depending on geographic location, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
FLSA Status: Exempt
Schedule: Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM | Hybrid
About the Role:
We are seeking a Conflicts Lateral Liaison to support new business operations with a focus on onboarding lateral partners and their clients and matters. This is a high-visibility, coordination-driven role that serves as a central point of contact across multiple departments, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with legal teams, leadership, and cross-functional departments while managing complex workflows and contributing to process improvements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for lateral partners during onboarding
• Coordinate conflicts clearance and new client and matter intake processes
• Track onboarding progress using detailed spreadsheets and reporting tools
• Collaborate with Conflicts Staff Attorneys on waivers, risk issues, and approvals
• Communicate with internal teams including recruiting, records, and legal staff
• Conduct conflicts research and due diligence analysis
• Identify and escalate delays or issues proactively
• Assist with training materials and process improvements
• Coordinate onboarding activities including client and matter setup and file transfers
• Draft and structure engagement terms for new clients
• Monitor and manage conflicts requests and ensure accurate intake information
• Prepare conflicts and due diligence reports using internal and external data sources
• Support documentation and training related to onboarding processes
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a legal or professional services environment with a research or analytical focus
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with senior stakeholders
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
• Experience with conflicts or compliance functions at a large law firm preferred
• Familiarity with conflicts systems such as Intapp or Elite preferred
• Experience with corporate research tools such as Capital IQ, Dun and Bradstreet, or Bureau van Dijk preferred
