Job Description

Our client in the construction sector seeks a detail-oriented Full Charge Bookkeeper with demonstrated expertise in Sage accounting software. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction accounting, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage the full cycle of bookkeeping functions with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:
• Manage all aspects of the general ledger, including AP/AR, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close.
• Oversee job costing, progress billing, and retention tracking specific to construction projects.
• Process payroll, calculate prevailing wages, and ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns along with other government reporting.
• Generate and analyze financial statements, supporting management with timely reporting.
• Work collaboratively with project managers to track expenses, budgets, and contract compliance.
• Maintain accurate records for vendor contracts, insurance certificates, and lien releases.
• Liaise with outside CPA/tax preparers during audits or annual reviews.
• Implement and uphold efficient accounting controls and best practices.

Requirements:
• Proven experience as a full charge bookkeeper in the construction industry.
• Advanced proficiency with Sage accounting software (Sage 100 Contractor, Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate, or comparable).
• Strong understanding of construction accounting practices, including job costing and progress billing.
• Knowledge of payroll processing and certified payroll reporting.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High degree of integrity and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and construction project management platforms.
• Experience collaborating with external accountants or auditors.
