Project Overview
Bechtel is seeking to work with a major Indian corporation to provide Project Management Consultant (PMC) Services for a multi-billion dollar renewables and its infrastructure project in India. The PMC Services will be led out of India with personnel deployed in Mumbai region. This position will start as an assignment in Mumbai, India (office) and after the full notice to proceed from the Owner, the site specific position will eventually transition to the job site for the execution of the project.
Job Summary
The Construction Engineer - Site Civil is responsible for overseeing the civil construction activities on-site, ensuring that all contractor work, including earthworks, land development work, storm water management, road construction , is carried out in accordance with the project's Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) standards, quality expectations, and schedule requirements. This role involves coordinating contractor performance, ensuring compliance with design specifications and codes, and resolving any technical or construction-related issues.
Major Responsibilities
• Coordinate and oversee compliance of contractors, ensuring works are carried out as per the drawings, specifications and standards, as per schedule and ensures compliance to ES&H plans, quality standards and local/national regulatory safety codes
• Coordinate performance of the earthworks contractors, project status, schedule, cost control, change management systems
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, client, and other stakeholders involved in foundation works and superstructure installation
• Input to ensure continuous construction work fronts availability through review of look ahead schedules, commodity charts, resource charts, engineering deliverables, material delivery schedules and any other service requirements including contractor submittals
• Ensures required permits and licenses are in place prior to the start of the specific work at site. Verifies compliance with Permit and License requirements and stipulations
• Responsible for reviewing and approving the contractor's submittals, technical queries, field change documents and other technical documents including drawings and As-Builts
• Ensure all materials and equipment on the site fully comply with international standard and technical specification requirements
• Attend site inspections, hold points / witness inspection as per project ITPs.
• Ensure the closure of project is systematic and complete in all respects
• Maintains an effective relationship with other functional departments and coordinates all jobsite contractual activities
• Provide guidance and technical advice to the Construction Engineers, contractors and monitor their performance
• Coordinates and monitors interfaces with other contractors, attend the review meetings
Education And Experience Requirements
• A recognized bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.
• 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
• Knowledge and experience of large earthwork, stormwater management, road construction and dewatering activities contracts administration and/or cost and scheduling relating to the construction of large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Experience and willing to work on remote jobsites / camp locations
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
• Awareness of environmental compliance laws and requirements.
• Awareness of government compliance standards.
• Familiarity with current industry quality standards. [ VP1]
