Construction Helper / Labourer
Job Summary
Graham's Glass & Renovation is seeking a motivated and reliable Construction Helper to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to our construction projects, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and safely alongside a carpenter. We work in teams of two, one carpenter and one helper. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, be reliable, have the ability to work collaboratively and the more construction knowledge/experience you have the better.
Duties
Assist skilled carpenters with various construction tasks. (installation of windows and doors, building decks, interior and exterior renovations and more.
Prepare job sites by cleaning and organizing materials and tools.
Load and unload materials from trucks and transport them to designated areas on-site.
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment to minimize hazards.
Operate basic hand tools and power tools under supervision.
Collaborate with team members to ensure project timelines are met.
Communicate with the owner and office manager
Occasionally drive a work vehicle
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in construction is considered an asset.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and team lifts above 50 pounds.
Familiarity with basic hand tools and safety equipment is advantageous.
Communication skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Further information: Your day starts at 8am and typically will end at 5PM or earlier depending on what is accomplished/able to be done on a given day. Work is done Monday to Friday. Your wage would be negotiable, $18-$23 per hour based on experience, ability, and knowledge. We are needing this position filled immediately. Our projects can be building a deck, renovating a bathroom, installing windows and doors, occasional roofing, etc,. Rarely are you doing the same thing daily. You must wear steel-toed boots and be willing to work outside in the cold and heat. The number one quality we desire other than experience is reliability.
