Position Overview:
We are currently hiring for a Landscape Lead Hand within our Construction Division. This person must possess strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with project managers, clients, and fellow team members. They should demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team for extended periods, both by providing and receiving direction to ensure seamless project execution. This role involves guiding and mentoring younger or less experienced employees in completing routine tasks on-site, while also taking direction from senior staff when required. Proficiency in using hand tools, battery tools, and air tools relevant to the trade is essential for success in this position.
We service all areas of Winnipeg and surrounding areas. We try to place staff members on working teams close to their residence to minimize their commute to work, however you will need a vehicle.
What You’ll Do: • Measure elevations and set backs for landscape construction
Layout project work site based on supplied prints
Direct and operate skid steers and excavators on site
Handle logistics as it relates to material deliveries and sub-contractors
Operate skid steers, mini-excavators, mud buggy’s on site
Direct and teach inexperienced staff members
Assist and supervise the construction of all landscape elements such as paving stone, retaining walls, outdoor kitchens, shrub and tree plantings, rock and mulch install, outdoor lighting, etc.
Communicate as needed with clients and address any concerns
What We’re Looking For: • 3+ years of landscape construction experience
Strong work ethic and ability to meet deadlines
Ability to understand building plans/prints
Ability to stand and work with your hands for extended periods
Ability to listen and follow instruction from a direct supervisor
Comfortable working weekends if needed (weather and schedule dependent)
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with access to reliable transportation. Class 3 is considered an asset.
Comfortable working weekends if schedule permits
Work Schedule: • April to November (weather-dependent)
Monday to Saturday: 10–12 hours/day, with occasional Saturday shifts
Winter work is available but not required
Expected hours: 50 – 60 per week
