Job Description
Your responsibilities will include overseeing consultants and contractors in the construction, renovation, or rehabilitation of sites, working closely with project managers and engineering teams to align project objectives and resolve technical issues. You will also liaise with local jurisdictions to maintain the integrity and efficiency of MARTA's assets.
As a Construction Project Resident Engineer, you'll lead a team comprising Office Engineers, Project Engineers, and Field Inspectors, ensuring all site operations run smoothly and adhere to schedules, budgets, and contractual obligations. Collaboration with functional managers and various engineering groups is key to achieving our project goals.
In this role, you will offer your technical expertise to staff and contractors, addressing and solving intricate challenges during the construction process. You will interpret technical specifications and ensure they are accurately reflected in contractual agreements.
Your communication and problem-solving skills will be critical when working with MARTA directors, project managers, and external agencies to tackle contract-related issues effectively. You'll be responsible for developing detailed scopes for changes and supporting the contract administrator in approving payments and negotiating changes.
Additionally, you will prepare performance plans and conduct evaluations for your team, participating in hiring decisions and managing staff development, including promotions and terminations.
This role requires a proactive attitude in managing operational aspects, ensuring alignment with project aims and organizational standards while undertaking other related duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Building Construction, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
• Minimum of five years of relevant experience in construction administration or contracts and procurement management, particularly in elevator and escalator projects.
• Strong understanding of contract development and management principles, including design review and contract testing.
• Ability to oversee and coordinate a variety of consultants and contractors to ensure effective contract execution.
• Expertise in providing guidance and solutions for complex engineering and construction challenges.
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• For elevator and escalator positions, hold a Certified Elevator Inspector (CEI) certification from an ASME approved provider.
We prefer candidates with a Professional Engineer (PE) Registration.
