About the Role

The successful candidate will be an essential member of the Group Benefits team contributing to the development and growth of the benefits department and the organization. As a consultant, you will provide your expertise and in-depth knowledge to mid-large group customers. You will have a proven track record for building excellent relationships and delivering innovative advice and solutions regarding marketplace trends including Drug Management strategies, Organizational health and absence management. In addition to the oversight of several key customers, responsibilities will include networking, developing and maintaining relationships to strengthen existing relationships and developing new business opportunities.


What You’ll Do

Promote strong client and prospect relations through both social and business interactions
Work with small and mid-size client accounts
Provide client-specific strategies and concepts to support a competitive plan design to meet the client's requirements
Meet with clients to present quarterly experience, financial updates, marketing and renewal reports
Educate clients on group benefits and provide options for consideration
Provide advice and consultative interpretation of various reports to support clients in making great decisions regarding the benefit plan relating to both the plan design and funding aspects of the program
Generate new business sales through prospecting and cross-selling initiatives
Prepare and deliver thorough benefit plan updates (financial, plan design, legislative) which clearly convey the issues relevant to the client audience
Participate in the renewal negotiation process with priority focus on the client’s needs.
Participate in the RFP process and conduct a careful analysis of all carrier submissions. Coordinate finalist presentations and transition to new carriers, as required.
Work closely with the other business teams at NFP to coordinate our relationship management efforts with each client.
Oversight and participation in other NFP projects and tasks as they occur from time to time
Pursue career development through enrolment in seminars or educational programs that have direct application to responsibilities at NFP
Participate in NFP client education seminars and other client-focused social events
What You Bring

Life Licensed (LLQP) or must be obtained within the first 6 months
Minimum 5 years of group benefits insurance experience
Experience working in a relationship/business development role
Extensive knowledge and experience with group benefits policy contracts and language
Strong analytical skills, relationship-building skills and negotiation and influencing skills
Strong oral and written communication skills, including business writing skills
First-rate presentation skills with the ability to show passion and connect with an audience
Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
