Overview:
Working closely with the Melbourne and Sydney People & Development and Client Solutions teams, the Consultant, People & Development (Talent Acquisition) will be involved with assisting in the further growth of the Melbourne and Sydney secondee teams.
The Consultant, People & Development (Talent Acquisition) will work towards ensuring both offices have the right type and the right number of lawyers and consultants (including paralegals and compliance professionals) available in terms of appropriate skills, availability, seniority, mix and fit to meet the businesses changing needs. This role is responsible for applying best practice recruitment practices, and this role provides the opportunity to work within a dynamic and supportive team.
Responsibilities:
RECRUITMENT & RESOURCING
Working closely with the Manager, People & Development (Melbourne) and Director, People & Development (Sydney) to attract and select high performing secondees for our Melbourne and Sydney businesses, including:
Screening, shortlisting, assessing and interviewing lawyers/paralegals/consultants, and managing selection and regret processes.
Conducting due diligence, reference checks and additional background screening on suitable candidates
Posting advertisements in line with corporate advertising guidelines and timely processing of applicant correspondence
Meeting requirements for prequalified, employed and “benched” lawyers and consultants
Co-ordinating and preparing recruitment paperwork including pre-engagement paperwork, offer letters, and extension documentation
Proactively utilising various platforms including job boards, social media, referrals and the internet to source and attract suitable talent for the Melbourne and Sydney secondee team
Building and maintaining an effective talent pools of potential lawyers and consultants (including paralegals and compliance professionals) – ie ensuring an appropriate mix of lawyers and consultants to meet business demands with the right skills, seniority, availability and cost.
Keeping talent pools warm and regularly touching base with current and prospective lawyers and consultants, including when on and off assignment.
Identifying suitability of talent for client assignments in-line with their availability.
Working closely with the Manager, People & Development (Melbourne) and Director, People & Development (Sydney) to develop and implement creative strategies to ensure we are attracting the right secondees in those respective locations.
Negotiating offer process, including salary negotiation with suitable paralegals, lawyers and/or consultants.
Preparing employment contracts and assignment engagement documentation.
Preparing and updating secondee profile marketing documentation.
Identifying new and innovative ways to attract new talent, including leveraging social media, LinkedIn Recruiter and other alternative platforms to standard job posting.
Updating resourcing databases/spreadsheets with respect to our secondees and talent pool.
Working with the People & Development team to develop and implement strategies to ensure we are an employer of choice, and our secondees are effective “ambassadors” for the company.
COMPLIANCE
Ensuring all lawyers and consultants in the recruitment process and engaged talent have the required pre-employment status, practice certificates and/or necessary immigration status.
Ensuring all applicants, relevant HR information and recruitment stages are recorded in the CRM and recruitment and other databases as appropriate in a timely manner.
Key Performance Indicators
Ensuring the Melbourne/Sydney office is delivering on its yearly resourcing plans
Increasing the LOD presence in the Melbourne/Sydney lawyer, paralegal and compliance market, and/or any other emerging markets
Increasing the available talent pool for Melbourne/Sydney lawyers and consultants to ensure assignment utilisation
Maintaining up to date information in our people systems.
Building successful and meaningful relationships with management team and talent (internal to LOD and external)

Qualifications:
Tertiary qualifications in human resources, law or business
At least 2-3 years experience in similar role, ideally in professional services or general/legal recruitment related business
Self-motivated, positive, organised and detail orientated and able to manage multiple and changing priorities
Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, MS Outlook and PowerPoint
Strong communications skills and the ability to get along well with others in a small team
