Position Description:
This position is responsible for assisting the Credit Review Officers and Manager in evaluating consumer credit portfolios and performing periodic credit reviews. You will work with members of the Credit Review team to analyze loan transactions and perform assessments of underwriting and portfolio management to independently opine on the adequacy of underwriting, credit decisions, and effectiveness of the credit management process supporting credit quality. Between periodic reviews, you will assist with other team functions which include but are not limited to independently monitoring credit risk trends within certain consumer lending portfolios and developing ideas to create efficiencies within the current processes. This position will report functionally to the Credit Review Manager and is located in Mumbai, India.
Key Responsibilities:
• As team member, you will participate in reviews led by Credit Review team members. This includes re-underwriting the retail credit decisions, analyzing the credit underwriting quality of individual transactions, recording test results and conclusions in a work paper database, and participating actively in all review meetings.
• Perform continuous monitoring of assigned product-based portfolios.
• Serve as an information resource on consumer credit risk and policy.
• Ensure consistent application of firmwide risk policy, credit procedures, and Credit Review policies and procedures.
• Complete special projects and research as assigned by the Credit Review Manager.
Qualifications:
• Experienced credit risk professional with a minimum of five years retail credit experience, preferably with a background in consumer credit underwriting, quality control, quality assurance, and/or credit risk management.
• Knowledge of Auto Finance, Business Banking, Card Services, Mortgage Lending or similar underwriting principles.
• Must be able to re-underwrite a retail (consumer) credit decision using original electronic source documents and originations systems.
• Previous Credit Review experience is preferred, but not necessary.
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated understanding of retail (consumer) credit principles and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required with ability to present complex and sensitive issues to management.
• Works well individually and in teams, shares information, supports colleagues, and encourages participation and flexibility to travel as required (less than 10%).
