The Opportunity

Start Date: May 15th, 2026
This role is for the Australian Football League (AFL).
Key Responsibilities:
• Write 3-5 pieces per day, especially on match days (predominantly news articles and fan reactions - 350-400 words each)
• Conduct exclusive interviews with athletes and influencers if needed.
• Clean & engaging articles - no plagiarism, falsified facts, idea theft, clout-farming, or click-baiting and should not be derogatory in any form.
• Keep track of trending topics and break them on time.
• Develop a knowledge base for trends, news, fresh content from creators, athletes, influencers etc.
• Review content for factual accuracy and general accuracy of grammar and context.
• Ensure that content is written as per Sportskeeda's guidelines with respect to language, spelling, grammar, scope of text and other such matters.
• Ability to work in a robust team environment that is multi-faith, multi-national, and diverse.
• Provide any other content-related assistance that may be required for any other articles
• Creating tracking mechanisms and repositories of content sources - tracking podcasts, social handles, etc. to scout good content for features
• Working with the Content Manager, Assistant Content Manager(s) and Specialists in identifying trending content, Article execution and updating/fixing erroneous content.
Requirements
• Excellent knowledge of the AFL, all the teams involved and the standout players. Should be able to watch all the AFL games and write articles during and immediately after the game.
• A good grasp of the English language (US) and the ability to communicate niche ideas to a wide-spread audience.
• Should have a knack for crisp sentence composition, grammar, and syntax.
• Candidates with the desire to learn and expand their writing skills and to build a robust repertoire of portfolio of sports related content (freshers welcome)
• Relevant experience in writing (Any past experience is a bonus)
• Should have a working knowledge of SEO
• Staying updated with recent developments in and around your chosen field
• Having a good eye for analysis and covering topics around their field, including identifying niches, breaking news, finding online interactions, tracking social media and more
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
• Please note - The pay/remuneration offered can vary according to years of experience and quality of content.
• Note: Australian natives will be preferred, but writers from other countries can apply if they have complete command over the sport
