LOCATION Burnley
SALARY Competitive, based on experience
Established in 2008, we are a branding and marketing agency based in Burnley, with a varied and ever-expanding list of clients based throughout the North West and beyond.
We’re a relatively small team of creatives producing big results for our clients, and we take a great deal of pride in what we do. We’re currently on the hunt for our next content writer – someone who is a master of the English language, with experience in writing for websites, as well as digital and print marketing projects, and someone who shares our core values, passion, and commitment to our clients.
The role
As our in-house content writer, you’ll be tasked with writing short-form and long-form content for a range of clients and platforms, including websites, email marketing campaigns, blog articles, brochures, leaflets, press releases, company newsletters, printed editorial – pretty much anything that needs words!
You’ll need to have great communication skills and be willing to take a proactive approach, reaching out to clients to gather key information about their business, and working alongside them to accurately capture and reflect their brand voice, using everything you learn to craft creative content that shouts about who they are and sells their products/services.
Essential skills
• The skills to create engaging, original written content, following an established brand tone and style
• Ability to manage priorities and work productively to meet deadlines, adapting where necessary to accommodate changing client needs
• An analytical mind, with the ability to conduct keyword research and use this data to craft on-brand, SEO-optimised content for websites and blogs
• Effective communication skills for contact with people across all levels of a business, from senior management to entry-level team members
• A talent for being able to get to the heart of what our clients are all about – who they are, what drives them, what their key values are – and communicate this effectively in your messaging
• Strong proofreading skills and an eye for accuracy (and spotting typos!)
• Ability to work well as part of a close-knit team of creatives, liaising with designers and digital marketing specialists to deliver knock-out content and campaigns
• An understanding of how to construct engaging and effective website copy, ideally with experience writing meta descriptions and page titles, too
• Ability to follow clear SEO briefs provided by our in-house SEO expert, with a basic understanding of SEO best practices such as H1, H2, and H3 tags.
Essential qualities
• A genuine love and enthusiasm for all things content-related
• A creative mind, with the ability to come up with creative and engaging content ideas for blog articles, and concepts for website copy and brand tone of voice
• Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar role
Desirable skills
• An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (preferably English language or something similar!)
• Mac literate
• Experience of working with Team/Microsoft 365, Semrush and Adobe XD
• Competence in editing and uploading content to WordPress sites
