Responsibilities
The Building Controls Specialist is responsible for the maintenance of automated building control systems within Anchorage School District facilities
Maintenance employees work a 4 / 10 schedule with weekends and holidays off
Troubleshoots and repairs heating, ventilation, and automation systems
Performs preventive maintenance on heat control systems
Makes required changes on the computer Building Automation System (BAS) for heating and lighting controls
Maintains working knowledge of the building automation system control as it pertains to HVAC and lighting
Reads, troubleshoots, and edits basic PPCL control language
Routinely works at heights over 20 feet
Interprets and works from plans, prints, specifications, and established maintenance procedures
Writes reports as required
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others
Makes use of appropriate computer applications for assigned areas of responsibility
Orders required material for assigned jobs
Works cooperatively with others within established maintenance and safety procedures
While performing the duties of this job the employee may be regularly exposed to a video display
The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions

Job Summary
The Building Controls Specialist is responsible for the maintenance of automated building control systems within Anchorage School District facilities.
The position reports to the department lead and location of the work station is subject to contract language concerning shift location / bids.

The following are required :
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of three years of experience within the past five years in the field of heating and ventilation control, with emphasis in electronics.

The following are preferred :
• Knowledge of pneumatic practical application.
• Possession of an Alaska third class boiler operator’s license.
