Job Description
Monson Savings Bank is currently seeking a Controller, responsible for overseeing the Bank’s accounting and financial functions, operations, and staff. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, this Exempt, Full-time position works within the Corporate Office, located at 107 Main Street, Monson, MA. and has potential for future remote/hybrid work.
Some of the position responsibilities include:
• Oversees the preparation of all financial reporting, including timely and accurate filing of quarterly Call Reports, other regulatory filings and tax forms.
• Responsible for preparation of annual financial statements as requested by external auditors.
• Prepares internal financial statements, board reports and cash flow statements.
• Ensures that the Bank’s accounting procedures are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Establishes, implements and reviews accounting methods and procedures. Assesses level of internal control and makes recommendations to strengthen or improve internal controls. Ensures the accuracy of all accounting entries and oversees departmental staff and operations.
• Responsible for calculation and reconciliation of the Lease Accounting quarterly schedule.
• Prepares quarterly documentation necessary for CECL compliance and provides to the SVP CFO for final review.
• Active member of internal CashFlow/ALCO and Audit Committees. Monitors progress of financial goals and reports results.

Skills/Qualifications: Preferred applicant has Knowledge of banking industry; broad knowledge in all aspects of finance; thorough knowledge of automated accounting and reporting systems; ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents; excellent verbal and written communication skills; computer literate, i.e., familiar with Windows environment, basic keyboard skills and advanced Excel skills; team approach to work responsibilities; ability to prioritize and manage time; strong attention to detail with ability to manage multiple responsibilities; proven interpersonal, leadership and management experience.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree with a major in Finance and minimum 7 years of related experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
