Job Summary

Lead the College's accounting function including financial reporting, general accounting, tax compliance and payroll. Maintain a system of internal controls to minimize risk.

Responsibilities

Direct all accounting and tax-related functions for college financial operations, providing technical subject matter expertise, and ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance.

Oversee the preparation and analysis of the College's financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other relevant standards. Coordinate and manage the external audit process.

Supervise the preparation of Form 990 and serve as the College's liaison with our tax firm.

Develop and maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.

Cultivate a strong knowledge of accounting developments, industry practices, and College operations to support compliance with industry standards, including all applicable tax laws.

Partner with division and campus resources to create training and continuously improve financial processes.

Supervise accounting and payroll staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, or a related field

A minimum of eight years of related experience in accounting to include a minimum of five years of supervisory experience

Experience using generally accepted accounting principles to structure and consistently deliver accurate financial reporting

Ability to interact with campus leaders and capability to present and explain financial data and analysis to both finance and non-finance audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a higher education environment

Knowledge of accounting standards established by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) for private institutions

Master's degree or CPA certification

Experience using Banner and Cognos reporting software or similar enterprise software

Proven experience in using technology to improve accounting functions.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$114,740 to $143,425 annually
