Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Controller to lead financial operations at MEDS. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset to manage the institution’s financial systems, budgeting processes, and compliance efforts. As a key member of our operations team, the Controller will support strategic growth, ensure fiscal responsibility, and enhance financial reporting across all MEDS locations.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee general ledger, A/P, A/R, payroll, and monthly/annual closings
Lead the development of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports
Prepare for and manage internal and external audits
Ensure compliance with accrediting agencies, state licensure bodies, and federal regulations
Partner with the executive leadership team and other senior officials to align operations with institutional goals and strategic planning.
Implement organizational strategies that support enrollment growth, program expansion, and student satisfaction.
Lead cross-functional teams in the design, implementation, and assessment of operational initiatives and process improvements.
Serve as a strategic advisor on operational matters affecting the academic, research, and clinical missions of the institution.
Develop and implement internal controls and financial policies
Support tuition pricing models, financial aid reporting, and institutional financial planning
Collaborate with executive leadership and department heads to align financial strategies with institutional goals
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5–7 years of experience in financial leadership roles
Strong understanding of Cash Basis accounting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software platforms
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
High level of integrity, discretion, and accuracy
Preferred:
CPA certification or advanced finance degree
Experience in higher education, healthcare, or regulated industries
Familiarity with state and non-profit reporting
