Line Cook
Line cooks are responsible for preparing assigned food items. They must follow the recipes and the portion control guidelines set by Duffy's. Major areas of responsibility include cleaning food preparation equipment, performing food preparation tasks, performing general cleaning activities in the kitchen, restocking kitchen supplies, grilling, cooking, and frying foods, coordinating timing of orders, cooking, plating, and garnishing all menu items, cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware, storing food in designated containers and storage areas, taking and recording temperature of food and food storage areas, preparing a variety of foods, packaging take-out foods, stocking storage areas and refrigerators, carrying food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas, distributing food to servers to serve to guests, removing trash and cleaning kitchen garbage containers, receiving and storing food supplies, equipment, and utensils in refrigerators and other storage areas, weighing or measuring ingredients, informing supervisors when equipment is not working properly and when food and supplies are getting low and ordering needed items, assisting other kitchen staff with various tasks as needed and providing with needed items, using manual or electric appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foods, keeping records of the quantities of food wasted or thrown away, sweeping and mopping kitchen floor, maintaining Food Handler's Certification, and maintaining a positive and professional approach to coworkers and customers.
Qualification standards include dependability, initiative, adaptability/flexibility, stress tolerance, attention to detail, self-control, integrity, cooperation, concern for others, and social orientation. Essential functions include standing for long periods of time, using both hands and all fingers to handle, control, grasp, move, assemble or feel objects, tools, or controls, repeating the same movements, walking or standing for long periods of time, seeing details of objects that are less than a few feet away, seeing details of objects that are more than a few feet away, seeing differences between colors, shades, and brightness, understanding the speech of another person, speaking clearly so listeners can understand, using stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired, keeping your hand and arm steady while moving, moving two or more limbs together, bending, stretching, twisting, or reaching out their body, being physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath, focusing on one source of sound and ignoring others, hearing sounds and recognizing the difference between them, using muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects, using muscles for extended periods without getting tired, determining the distance between objects, coordinating movement of several parts of the body, reacting quickly using hands, fingers, or feet, multitasking different work activities and shifting attention from one task to another, being occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, being occasionally exposed to extreme cold and/or heat (non-weather), heavy lifting up to 40 lbs, and adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing quickly and correctly. Available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
