Cooks Helper

Job Summary:
The Cooks Helper assists in meal preparation and service for children, families, and staff within a facility, ensuring nutritional standards and food safety protocols are followed. This role supports the Head Cook in kitchen operations, maintaining cleanliness and organization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in food preparation, cooking, and serving under the Head Cook's direction.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, including utensils, equipment, and food storage areas.
• Follow food safety guidelines, including proper food handling and sanitation.
• Assist with meal planning and preparation for special diets or individual needs.
• Report kitchen issues or equipment malfunctions to the Head Cook.
• Help manage kitchen inventory and ensure adequate stock.
Qualifications:
• Previous kitchen or food prep experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety practices.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as a team.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
Education/Experience:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Food handling certification preferred.
• Experience in a child care or institutional setting a plus.
Working Conditions:
• Flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
• Requires standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Salary Range: $18-$20 per hour, depending on experience.
