Job Description

We are recruiting for a Coordinator, Human Resources & Legal Talent to join our Calgary Office. Working under the direction of the Director, Talent Management the Coordinator, Human Resources and Legal Talent is responsible for the coordination and execution of key activities as they relate to legal professionals, law students, support staff and administration of the Calgary office.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
• Supports recruitment activities by drafting job postings and posting on relevant websites
• Arranges interviews for firm vacancies, including summer and articling student positions
• Working with the senior administrative team in Calgary, responsible for organizing and carrying out on-boarding for all personnel
• Responsible for vacation and absence tracking for Staff
• Provides back up in coordinating sick and vacation day coverage for legal assistants
• Assists in coordinating professional development schedules for the summer law students and articling students
• Communicates with Pro Bono Law Alberta and coordinates lawyer and student participation in Civil Claims Duty Counsel shifts
• Maintains employee electronic files
• Is the primary contact for InTapp access
• Supports firm members with utilizing the firm’s HCM and is the primary contact for questions and inquiries
• Supports administrative tasks including payroll change notices, updating firm directory, boardroom bookings, service awards, employee recognition, etc. as required
• Assists in accounting processes: submitting invoices & cheque requisitions, reconciling MasterCard statements monthly and tracking monthly expenses to inform the annual budgeting process
• Provides back up support to Calgary trust accounting
• Supports other special projects as required

Position Requirements:

Education and Experience
• Post-secondary degree/certification in the HR field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• A minimum of 1 - 2 years of working experience within a professional service environment

Knowledge and Skills
• Ability to use discretion and handle confidential information.
• Superior written and verbal communications in English.
• Strong interpersonal skills to deal with various contacts.
• Proficiency with computers (including MS Office Suite) and excellent writing skills.
• Detail-oriented.
• Team-oriented.
• Strong organization skills with an ability to work independently, multi-task, effectively prioritize, and meet competing deadlines.
• Project management skills and analytical skills.
• Some flexibility with work hours is required (including ability to work overtime).
