About the role
As the Coordinator Open Space Projects, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable public spaces across our community. Leading a dedicated team within the Capital Works service unit, you’ll oversee the full lifecycle of park, open space, sporting ground, and other capital projects, from initial investigations and planning through to design, stakeholder engagement, construction, and delivery.
Reporting to the Capital Works Manager, you’ll be responsible for:
Driving project outcomes that align with the Community Strategic Plan
Managing contracts, budgets, and timelines with precision
Leading and mentoring staff to achieve performance targets
Building strong partnerships across Council and with external stakeholders
Resolving challenges with creativity and collaboration
This is a leadership role that blends technical expertise with strategic thinking and community engagement. You’ll work closely with other Coordinators and the Capital Works Manager to ensure the success of the service unit and deliver spaces that truly reflect the needs and aspirations of our residents.

Remuneration
$124,411.56 - $149,199.96 + 12% Superannuation + Access to Motor Vehicle Leaseback Scheme
Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications
Essential Requirements
Degree in Project Management, Engineering, Landscape Architecture or related discipline OR significant experience in the delivery capital works programs
Demonstrated experience in leading and managing multi-disciplinary project delivery
Practical experience in the investigation, evaluation, design and specification of capital works infrastructure to relevant industry standards, codes and legislation
Demonstrated financial management, procurement, contract and budgetary experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
Understanding of or experience with the Australian Business Excellence framework or experience in development and execution of improvement initiatives or continuous improvement
Experience leading and managing a customer-focused team
Knowledge of and commitment to equity and diversity principles, work health and safety, ethical practice and acting with probity at all times
Practical experience in open space, recreation and landscape capital works infrastructure.
Current NSW Class C Driver’s Licence
Desirable Requirements
Experience in Prince 2 project management methodology or similar methodologies
Demonstrated appreciation of the complexity of Local Government, particularly the social, political and legal frameworks within which it operates
