This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 160 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.
About the role
DroneShield is seeking a Copywriter with relevant experience to join the team in Sydney, New South Wales. The position will report to the Digital Design Team Lead.
The role is primarily focused on marketing content. It represents a unique opportunity to produce written marketing material in the defence space.
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations
Create and maintain external-facing copy across all digital and print materials including brochures, presentations, adverts, press releases and blogs
Schedule, write and maintain social media posts
Write and maintain copy on DroneShield’s website
Help coordinate marketing materials required for events and expositions
Point of Contact for external media agencies
Collaborate with internal Design, Engineering and Sales teams
The ability to absorb highly technical details and communicate these details in a way that can be easily understood
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong time management skills with the ability to quickly respond to ad-hoc requests whilst maintaining high-quality standards
Maintain version controls to ensure consistency, compliance, and accuracy of materials
Maintain consistent branding and tone of voice across all collateral
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
2+ years proven experience copy or content writing in Defence and either Technology or Engineering field
Bachelor’s degree in Writing, Communication, or related field, or equivalent practical experience especially in STEM sector
Exceptional written and communication skills
Experience in SEO optimisation (preferred)
Experience with Mailchimp, Squarespace and Hootsuite (a plus)
Experience with Adobe InDesign (a plus)
Familiarity writing in American English (a plus)
