About the opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Core Facilities & Quality Officer to support BIENCO’s laboratory operations and quality systems. This hands-on role is critical to the project’s evolution from research-focused activity toward scalable, manufacturing-aligned laboratory processes.

You will play a central role in managing laboratory facilities configured for translational biomedical research, coordinating equipment and services in accordance with quality management protocols, and supporting traceable quality and operational excellence across the project.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
manage the day-to-day operations of the BIENCO project laboratory and associated core facilities, ensuring efficient, well-organised, and uninterrupted laboratory activity
coordinate the scheduling and use of laboratory equipment, overseeing routine servicing, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and compliance
oversee laboratory organisation, including ordering, stock control, inventory management, and the availability of consumables to support ongoing research/production activities
support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous monitoring of laboratory quality systems, ensuring adherence to established procedures and documentation requirements
ensure all laboratory activities are conducted in line with health and safety regulations, compliance requirements, and best-practice laboratory standards
liaise effectively with internal research teams, technical staff, and external suppliers and service providers to support operational needs and resolve issues promptly
act as a core operational member of the BIENCO project team, contributing to planning, coordination, and continuous improvement of laboratory operations
About you
substantial experience in laboratory management, core facilities oversight, or technical research support within an academic, clinical, or industry research environment
strong understanding of biomedical production operations, including quality management systems, regulatory compliance, and best-practice standards
proven experience coordinating laboratory equipment, facilities, and accredited external suppliers, including servicing, maintenance, and contract management
excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary, translational research environment, supporting researchers, technical staff, and project teams to achieve shared objectives that go beyond classical research activities towards quality controlled production of medical materials/devices
