Position Overview
Details of the Division and Team:

Key coverage person for the origination and business development of energy related projects in the oil & gas, mid-stream and renewable industries. The Corporate Bank Australia and New Zealand growth strategy includes expanding the Project Finance solutions to our existing (global) corporate client base, financial sponsors, and infrastructure funds. Infrastructure can include commercially sustainable projects in sectors such as energy (solar, wind, hydro, batteries, transmission and distribution, utilities, and natural gas developments), water and waste (water supply, distribution, wastewater treatment, solid waste management) and infrastructure project in rail, road and LNG. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of closing successful transactions in these industries and has access to the decision makers within our target group which will lead to an immediate deal flow.

Your key responsibilities:

This is an existing role within the Corporate Bank Coverage that requires further development and the successful candidate will be tasked to establish an incremental revenue flow within lending, (structured) trade finance (including export credit finance), debt capital markets, risk management solutions, cash management (including account bank solutions) and trust & agency services that we offer and will lead the coverage efforts for deals in these industries. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with colleagues within the existing Coverage, Structured Trade Export Finance and Natural Resource Finance businesses global and regional teams with a clear focus on developing this area in the bank and originating new deals. Considering the importance of this role the successful candidate has to demonstrate leadership skills as the role comes with colleague(s) that may report over the short term into the successful candidate.

Core Tasks of the Role

Co-Lead the origination of a pipeline of infrastructure finance in close cooperation with our infrastructure team(s)

Drive the coverage efforts for these industries and be the champion in the Corporate Bank for infrastructure, LNG and energy transactions

Cross-sell the bank products off the back of a lending transaction with a clear focus on improving product penetration and share of wallet

Unlock new target clients across the infrastructure and renewable investment funds with the objective to establish long-term relationships with these funds and sponsors

Co-lead the internal approvals process including interface with credit, integrity, legal and other teams as well as regional and senior management

Build (out) and maintain a portfolio in this asset class with a clear mandate invest and hold and occasionally buy and hold

Support throughout deal lifetime and contribute to or lead negotiations about amendment requests

Being responsible as the client owner for the client lifetime cycle which entails protecting the bank against financial crime risk, reputational risk and other (non-credit) risks which includes know your client tasks and acting as the first line of defense

Work closely with the investment bank colleagues (DCM, Origination & Advisory, Markets) in originating and closing successfully bespoke transactions

Your skills and experience:

At least 7-10 years of relevant experience with financing deals in the private sector infrastructure (particularly project financing or PPPs) including hands-on experience in originating loans, guarantee transactions, and other corporate banking products

Experienced as a Coverage banker or industry banker with a strong credit awareness and risk management skill set

Extensive experience as an originator in the Australian market with the experience or strong ambition of building your own business line in Coverage with a focus on generating new revenues for the bank

Excellent understanding of banking (debt) products in the corporate bank and investment bank

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and the ability to communicate effectively to management.

Strong relationships with financial sponsors and infrastructure funds and immediate access to the decision makers in the Australian market
